Our Pack
Schroeder's Den is a social dog daycare. At the Den, our focus is on creating the conditions for your dog to interact with other dogs in ways that are appropriate, safe, and responsive to each others' eyes, body language, and behavior. The result is a relaxed 'canine citizen' who knows how to greet other dogs, invite them to play, curl up together, and even disengage confidently and calmly.
How do we do it? By separating the dogs by age and size. Our puppies interact with puppies in their own play space separate from both the small and large dens, called the Puppy Den. Puppies learn how to 'dog' with their peers on the same learning curve. After they have been spayed or neutered, our mature dogs spend the day nose-to-nose with dogs their height, small and large dogs each in their own rooms with friends their size. We call these the Large Den and the Small Den.
The Lobby
When you step into the lobby at Schroeder's Den, the first thing you may notice is that there is little-to-no barking. That quiet is the sound of social dogs interacting well-- sending and receiving clear cues to each other about what they would like to do without vocalizing. You may hear the voices of our staff talking with them, managing the pack, moving them through the daily schedule, and teaching them to look to their human for guidance.
We ask that only one person/family enter the lobby at a time during drop off and pick up. For evening pickup, text 971-601-8073 with your dog's name and breed. We will send you a "ready" text when it is time to come inside and pick up your dog. This practice minimizes distractions for your dog in the lobby and gives us a chance to talk with you about your dog. We love talking about your dog!
Your dog must be on leash at all times while on premises.
The Puppy Den
Puppies are learning how to pace themselves in a social environment. To help them learn this skill, we give them two naptimes in individual kennels. The first is from 12-2:45 and the second is at 5:30 until pickup. During naptimes, we feed them meals you provide at drop off. Please pack a daily bag for your puppy and label it and items inside with their name. Include a small towel for naptime, a chew toy, a plushy toy, and the portion of food you would like us to feed them that day. Check out our pricing.

The Large Den & The Small Den
Mature dogs may come from a houseful of dogs or have no social experience at all. Our philosophy is to meet your dog where they are and teach them how to communicate with other dogs effectively. Want to play all day? We bet there's a friend here who wants to do that too. Feeling quiet? We can help you tell those playful dogs to ask another friend without drama. Nap time is from 12-2 PM in individual kennels. If you would like us to feed your dog during naptime, you are welcome to drop off the day's portion of food in the morning. Please clearly label the container. Check out our pricing.

The Groom Room
We provide grooming services to the Large, Small, and Puppy Den dogs. This is a fantastic convenience for you, but you may not realize that it is also a benefit for your dog. We have heard from many owners that their dog is apprehensive about or resistant to having their feet, ears, or teeth handled, yet when we perform the grooming, they don't react that way. Instead, the dog is happy, or even bored! What is happening here? The dogs haven't said, but we suspect a couple of factors are at work. Grooming is part of the daily routine at the Den, dogs see other dogs having a good time getting groomed, and the dogs know and trust us as caretakers. That level of comfort is a win-win for you and your dog. Check out our pricing.
The Owner
Meadow Danielson owns and operates Schroeder's Den. She has over 22 years' experience working with dogs and their owners in social dog daycare in Hillsboro. Meadow's staff at the Den have a more than 30 years experience working in social dog daycare. When they aren't playing with your dog at the Den, they are playing with their dogs at home. Give us a call and let's talk about your dog!
